In the heart of America, down in the hollers of the Ozark Mountains, on the peaceful shores of Table Rock Lake is a place where every winter the American Bald Eagles gather in their great splendor to amaze spectators that travel from across the country to see them.
From November 1, 2007 - February 28, 2008 join us for the homecoming of the American Bald Eagle here in the Branson area! The Bald Eagle makes it's home on the towering bluffs over Table Rock Lake, Lake Taneycomo and Bull Shoals Lake during the winter months.
Now come and see our national symbol in its natural environment. From land or water there are many photo opportunities every day.
Eagle Watching Tours
Guided Eagle Watch tours are available daily from November 1, 2007 through February 28, 2008.
Eagle tour times are 9 a.m.
All Eagle Watch Tours Must be reserved at least 1 day in advance!
Tours are available for individuals and groups. Eagle tours may be arranged by calling 1-417-538-2744 and asking for a guided eagle watching tour. Tours last for 2 hours. The eagles are in the wild and some days you see them and some days you don't. Your chances are greatly enhanced with a Eagle Watch guide.

What to bring

This is an Outside Event. So bring warm clothes! You should
also bring your camera, video camera, field glasses, and anything else
that will help you view these spectacular birds. |
Eagles locations
|
The American Bald Eagle may be viewed around our area lakes and rivers. Lake
Taneycomo runs through the City of Branson. Downtown on the lakefront is
a great place to view the Eagles in Branson. There are several eagle's
around Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery located below Table Rock Dam.
Other great viewing areas are located at Rockaway Beach, Missouri and the
many resorts located along the lake to the east of Branson.
Table Rock Lake is where you can find the largest concentration of eagles!
Many of the Corps of Engineers Campgrounds and area resorts has excellent
locations for viewing. From Table Rock Dam all the way to Beaver Dam you
can find the American Bald Eagle. Some great viewing locations are located
at Kimberling City, Cape Fair, Lampe Baxter and the Shell Knob, Missouri
areas.
Bull Shoals Lake also has a winter population of Bald Eagles. Starting
at Bull Shoals Dam all the way down to the Arkansas State Line eagles are
spotted each winter. Some great viewing areas are located at Power Site
and Forsyth, Missouri as well as the many Corps of Engineers Campgrounds
located along the lake.
The James River located at Galena, Missouri also offers some close up
encounters with the American Bald Eagles.

Other Types of Birds of Prey to Watch
|
The American Bald Eagle is not the only birds of Prey you can see during
the winter months! The Golden Eagle can also be seen along our many lakes
and rivers. The Golden Eagle is a dark brown color and when in flight looks
like it has a light colored spot under each wing.
You may also see other Birds of Prey, which include hawks, falcons,
owls, and vultures. Hawks in the Branson Missouri area include the Red-Tailed
Hawk, Sharp Shinned Hawk, Harris' Hawk, and Cooper's Hawk. Owls include
the Barn Owl, Great Horned Owl, Snowy Owl, Barred Owl and the tiny Screech
Owl. The Peregrine Falcon and the American Kestrel both belong to the falcon
family and range throughout the Ozark Mountain area. The Ozark's vultures
(also called buzzards by some folks) include the Black Vulture and Turkey
Vulture.
